Payroll that applies MRPS and employee withholding tax the way MIRA expects

How is the MRPS pension calculated?
Seven percent of pensionable wage from the employee and seven percent from the employer, on Maldivian employees, capped and reported per the Maldives Retirement Pension Scheme rules. The employer contribution is booked as an expense and both halves as a liability until paid.
Which staff actually owe withholding tax?
Few. Pension is relieved before the bands apply and the first MVR 60,000 a month is at 0%, so most hotel salaries owe nothing; the calculation still runs for every payslip so a promotion never slips past the threshold unnoticed.
How does service charge reach staff?
The 10% service charge collected on folios and outlet bills is a liability, not revenue. NeoSuite totals it monthly, keeps at most 1% for administration, and distributes the rest across eligible staff on the payslip, with the split visible to each person.

Can expatriate staff be handled differently?
Yes. Pension eligibility, work permit details and currency of pay are per employee.
